Invoices, packing slips, gift receipts, return forms and picking worksheets have different jobs, but they should share the same design language. Define the typography, spacing, logo treatment, accent colour and contact hierarchy once before editing individual files.
This prevents small differences from accumulating. A slightly different logo width or heading style might seem harmless in one file, but the complete set quickly feels improvised when documents are viewed together.
Keep customer-facing and internal documents connected
Customer-facing documents should prioritize clarity, reassurance and brand continuity. Internal picking documents should prioritize speed and scanability. They do not need identical layouts, but they should use the same naming conventions, visual cues and page logic.
A disciplined system makes the invoice feel polished without turning the picking worksheet into a decorative poster. Brand consistency comes from shared rules, not from adding a large logo everywhere.
Preview with representative test orders
Always preview templates with a synthetic order that includes long product names, variants, discounts, multiple quantities and a longer address. A short, perfect sample can conceal wrapping, page-break and alignment problems.
Test both US Letter and A4 when you serve merchants or customers in multiple regions. Print or save a browser PDF with headers and footers disabled and background graphics enabled, then inspect every page.
Preserve a safe rollback
Create separate Order Printer templates and keep Shopify’s existing versions unchanged until the new set has passed a real print check. Give every new template a clear name and initially leave Print by default turned off.
